Meet the farming community of Bani Ofair

In Bani Ofair, Dhamar, about 50 farming families endure on rugged, lush land, isolated by the absence of roads and infrastructure. Yet, they remain undeterred. To them, coffee is not just a crop; it’s a deep source of pride that cannot be forsaken. Every morning, they drink coffee with breakfast, believing that a truly good cup should leave you completely satisfied.

During harvest season, the farmers gather to share and judge each other’s coffees. They cup and assess the quality, turning the process into a friendly competition that pushes everyone to do better. As one farmer puts it, “Since I started working with Qima Coffee, I’ve become much more interested in producing high-quality coffee through using natural manures and following the best agricultural practices in all stages of the harvest.”

To expand his farm, he planted about 600 new seedlings, from Qima Coffee, and replaced qat trees with coffee. "From the sales of my coffee, I have used the proceeds to improve coffee cultivation and prepare more land for planting." In Bani Ofair, the commitment to coffee goes beyond tradition—it’s a drive to perfect their craft and elevate the standard of their land’s most cherished crop.
